Ben Foster - 6
The youngster gave an improved showing but in truth, was not troubled by any of the Malaysian strikers.
Fabio Da Silva - 8
For a boy so young, he played like a seasoned professional. Providing the cross for Fletcher to create Macheda's goal.
Wes Brown - 7
Wonderful to see Brown back in action. Always a dependable player at the back for the Red Devils.
Jonny Evans - 7
Starting to show why Ferguson has not gone out to buy a more experienced central defender. Solid and assured alongside Brown.
Gary Neville - 7
Captain for the night and very much slower than he used to be. But Neville has learnt from Giggs and now plays to his strength.
Darren Fletcher - 8
Deployed as a right midfielder, supplied the telling pass for Macheda to score. Rarely a bad game for Fletcher when he pulls on a United jersey.
Michael Carrick - 6
The former Spurs man controlled the game with his variety of long and short passes.
Zoran Tosic - 5
Lively down the left flank but still does not seem to have the mentality to hold down a regular starting spot.
Ryan Giggs - 7
The evergreen Welshman was tasked with the playmaking role and he dictated the pace of the game with his good reading of the game.
Federico Macheda - 8
With Cristiano Ronaldo now gone, Macheda could very well be the new star for United in the upcoming season. Was a nightmare for the Malaysian defenders throughout the game.
Michael Owen - 10
Just a few months ago, Owen looked like he had lost the passion and legs to last a full 90 minutes. But in just two games for United, the England hitman has totally turned his game around. 20 goals this season seems a good bet.
Substitutes
Nani - 6
His dribbling skills is second to none but unlike Ronaldo or Giggs, he does not seem to know how to deliver the ball when it matters.
Dimitar Berbatov - 7
Showed some nice touches but the jury will still be out in full force if he fails to put in a good season to prove his worth.
John O'Shea - 7
Calm, assured and rarely caught out. One of Ferguson's go-to players when he needs stability at the back.
Rio Ferdinand - 6
Failed to calm the nerves of his teammates in the final few minutes of the game and allowed Malaysia to launch attack after attack.
Wayne Rooney - 6
Too little time to impress but Rooney will be crucial to United's hopes of retaining the league title.
Paul Scholes - 6
His age is starting to show but still a class-act amongst United's stars.
Anderson -6
Stroll in the park for the Brazilian.
Danny Gibson - 6
This season will be crucial for Gibson. Like many of United's youngsters, he needs to start impressing week after week to avoid the chop at the end of the season.
