Sir Alex Ferguson Closes Manchester United's Transfer Campaign

Sir Alex Ferguson has told journalists at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur that Manchester United will make no further purchases in this summer's transfer market.

After the signing of Antonio Valencia from Wigan Athletic for £17 million, last week's capture of Gabriel Obertan for approximately £3 million, the bagging of English striker Michael Owen for free and then the acquisition of Norwegian youngster Mame Biram Diouf yesterday, Old Trafford is now closed to new recruits.

"We feel that we already have a complete squad," the two-time Champions League winner told reporters.

"We weren't planning to sign anyone else after Gabriel Obertan last week, but the situation accelerated to a point where other clubs started to make bids for Diouf, so we signed him too."

"We decided to act now and he'll be the last player we sign this summer,” concluded the Glaswegian.

After the sale of Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid for around £80 million many expected United to splash the cash, however it appears from these latest comments that Ferguson is content with his squad and is ready for the new season
